When it comes to gaming mice, Logitech builds some of the finest gaming mice available.
When my Razer Death Adder died after serving me for 4 years, I started looking for a suitable replacement. After I spent nearly 2.5 k for it back then, I wanted to buy something under 2 k.
After weeks of research, I shortlisted Logitech G402 and Logitech G400s.

Let me guide you through the comparison process between the two mice.

Logitech G400s:-

Features:
  • 8 programmable buttons
  • Optical sensor
  • 4000 DPI(max)
  • 25 g max acceleration
  • Delta zero sensor
  • On-the-fly DPI change
Those who have already used Logitech MX518 gaming mouse would feel right at home with this one. It is a budget offering and slight upgrade to its predecessor G400 which had 3600 dpi sensor.
It is a bit bulky and better fit for Palm grip gamers. Design is strikingly similar to MX518 which is now a 7 year old mouse.

Logitech G402 Hyperion Fury:-

Features:
  • 8 programmable buttons
  • 240-4000 DPI range
  • 32 bit ARM processor
  • On-the-fly DPI change
  • >500 ips tracking speed
This mouse is beautifully designed with a glowing G logo symbolizing the G series by Logitech. Comes with a Fusion engine which enables it to track speeds in excess of 500 IPS. Well places programmable buttons which can even be used to assign shortcuts for Microsoft Office applications using the Logitech driver which is available to download on the site. It fits perfectly in the hand offers rubberized grip so that gaming sessions can continue for hours without much fatigue.

After checking out both of them, I found that G402 is released recently and was priced almost INR 700 less than G400s. So I decided to go for G402, ordered it from Snapdeal and got it in 4 days.

First impressions:

The mouse looks and feels premium and is good to hold. The buttons are responsive and feels good. The scroll wheel is a bit on the harder side but manageable ( Not anywhere close to Death Adders scroll). While it doesn't offer the braided cable and gold plated USB connector like other mice, but it offers everything which is needed.

Ergonomics:

This is one aspect that I always find debatable as it is a personal preference, Some people like smallish round mice which fits inside the hand while others like huge bulky mice on which resting the palm is easier. Personally for me, it is spot on. It feels good to hold and offers plenty of support for the palm. The special curve side thumb rest ensures that the thumb doesn't slide off while using. Another great add-on is a "Sniper" button. It slows down the DPI so that we can get that precise movement when we need without toggling through the DPI changer and returns to normal when the button is released. And finally as you might have noticed, It is a right handed only mouse.

Features:

The main feature is its sensor's tracking speed which is in excess of 500 ips. This has been achieved by combining a laser sensor with a gyroscope and an accelerometer. Equiped with an ARM processor it enables it to precisely track the movements. A 4000 DPI sensor and a reporting rate of 1 ms makes it an ideal choice in the budget category.

Verdict:

With great processor, flawless tracking technology, 4000 DPI sensor, easy to use software and great ergonomics, this mouse is a great value for money proposition offering great performance at a very good price. While the ergonomic factor and visual appeal still remains a debatable topic, this mouse performs very well and should be considered if you are out in the market looking for a sub 2k range gaming mouse.
